Report

Ibstock finish their first season playing 11 a side football in respectable fashion against a very strong Barrow Town side losing 6-2. On a warm and sunny spring evening United started the game by playing leading scorer Nathan Morley in the heart of defence. Barrow opened the scoring in the first minute, causing a positional rethink. Despite going two down after 15mins Ibstock pulled a goal back when Morley neatly finished after receiving the ball from a long throw in by Eva Crowson.
Barrow replied with a further three goals before half time to lead 5-1 at the break.
Barrow continued to be strong and defiant in defence and hit their sixth and final goal 5 mins into the second half. Ibstock to their credit continued to play positively and defensively showed good qualities particularly from Ben Oliver. Ibstock tried to take advantage of the many free kicks awarded to them, but with ten minutes remaining it was another long throw by Crowson that was headed over the line by Jamie Adams 6-2. Ibstock finished their impressive second half display having only conceded one goal in the second half.
